Orthopaedic surgeon Richard Villar has worked in conflict and disaster zones around the world for more than 25 years, both as the regimental surgeon to the British Special Forces and elsewhere. He now forms part of the UK Disaster Emergency Response Team. This extraordinary tale covers his experiences around the world, including Central American and Far Eastern jungles, the siege of Sarajevo, the Falklands War,  terrorist sieges, the desert Bedouin of the Middle East, the Kashmir and Java earthquakes, a massive avalanche on Everest’s North Face and, more recently, the Haiti earthquake.
